Microsoft announced a change in our relationship with Itanium, aka IA64 today. I remember the excitement of the new platform back in 1999 as we were working on it. I remember late nights in a lab in building 1 helping out as a sort of translator with the Japanese NEC engineers. It was a heady time as a new out of college engineer seeing one of the first Itanium boxes roar to life and turn out some incredible performance numbers. Some good memories, but the time has come to move on.
